Radio Sales Café

A networking site for Radio advertising sales professionals.

This recording by former radio station owner/operator Bill Knudsen is his narration of an article he wrote for the October 1987 issue of THE ENTERPRISE, a publication of the Chamber of Commerce of Northwest Connecticut.  At that time Bill owned and operated WSNG radio in Torrington, CT and was a client of the late, great Jim Williams.

I don't recall the first time I heard this presentation; it was sometime between 1988 and 1994, at one of Jim's sales training meetings here in Pullman. Jim was kind enough to make a copy of the recording for me and Bill, now retired from the radio business and living in Wisconsin, has graciously given me permission to share it here.

Bill's presentation is addressed to retail advertisers -- small business owners and managers -- local radio's bread-and-butter prospects.  He packs a lot into seven minutes.

Bet you pick up at least one good idea!

P.S.  Don't be put off by the date of the recording.  Technological changes are largely superficial, whereas people behave as they always have.

"The more things change, the more they remain the same." - Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Karr

Thanks for posting this audio Rod. I heard it years ago and forgot about it. It's STILL applicable.
