Hi all,

Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas about how to convince a carpet and flooring store to meet with you so you can inform them of the CO-OP they qualify for, without that being the sole reason for the meeting? The prospect had run spots with us in 2007 and only ran four :30's during a sports broadcast and nothing since.

THANKS!!

From RSC member James Turk, via the RSC chat room:

If it were me, I wouldn't "try and convince them of anything" Just call the decision maker, and tell them you have a couple great ideas for a campaign for them, tell him youll only need 10 minutes. would wednesday work, or would thursday be better to come in and show them to him. Then ...shhhhhh

Hey Andy....

What we have here is a failure to communicate the REAL reason that you need to speak to them. If you know/ think that they have coop dollars, then you have an interesting offer. Imagine walking up to any business or on the phone and simply tell them..." I have a way for your business to become a very important category advertiser to our audiences/ your customers, and the reality is that it may not cost you anything; we can get somebody else to pay for you to grow your revenues and profits. Now that's worth a 10 minute conversation!!

Everybody wants to be on air....and they may have the money to do it... but they are always affraid of not recieving a reasonable Return on Investment. If there is virtually no investment by the owner, then the return... no matter how nominal would be a bonus...No? But you will make sure that the creative is so persuasive, compelling and entertaining that this customer will become a staunch advocate for radio.

Thats what I'd do.

And have done.....

Cheers

Ask for a meeting with the following question "If I could show you a way to put XYZ Floor Store in front of (number) people and it cost you nothing would you be willing to talk with me?"
