Friday Poll: What Do You Do for Fun?
We thought it'd be fun to see if there are any common denominators in the types of hobbies/leisure time activities that radio sales professionals enjoy, so this week's Friday Poll question is:
When you're not selling radio, what do you do for fun? What's your favorite hobby or pastime? (And if you can't settle on just one favorite, tell us your top two or three.)

Pretty sure this is going to be a common response today, but my #1 thing to do when I'm not selling, and even when I am selling for that matter, is golf.

I married a part-time antique dealer, so the natural progression was to look for vintage radio stuff..Started with radios, but I'm not a techie, I've moved on to ephemera..and other radio related stuff..books, station histories, technical materials for the techies, display materials from retailers. I'm active with the New England Antique Radio Club as a dealer and board member. My personal collection is simple - doll house radios and anything else that's the same size and looks like a radio (banks, etc.). It takes up one shelf unlike radios which take up one room! I also collect barber bottles and shaving mugs. If any of you are or know antiquers, you know these would be just the beginning of an endless number of collections sprouting up around the house. My wife collects sewing machines. Anyone have an Esty? And china pincushion dolls (also used on lamps and whisk brooms) and...well...there's not room here for all of the others We also own a retail gift and specialty toy store (a great laboratory for validating radio advertising's power) and have become followers of and proponents of NH's nacescent wine industry as a result.

I enjoy catching up on my movies... nothing is better than friends, all foods with no nutritional value, a comfortable couch and entertainment. My 2nd choice of course would be hitting up the gym regularly so i can feel less guilty when the next movie night rolls around.

I am pretty sure this is a generational thing, but I play video games. I watch almost no television but I put in a few hours a week playing video games, mostly in this evening. I'm 38.

Wow, Lana, your post just brought back a really good memory. When my sister and I were growing up, my mom used to throw us tea parties, with tea and all sorts of tasty treats served up on her dainty blue-and-white china tea set. We always invited "Mr. Benjamin" (aka Corky, our ever-obliging golden Lab) and made sure to have some special doggie treats on the table just for him. Thanks for the jaunt back in time! :-)

Maybe it's a Canadian thing, but it's all about hockey at our station! A few of us play together in a men's league here. Lots of reading to, mostly non-fiction business / sales books.
