One of the classic objections we've all encountered at one time or another is some variant of, "What I've got is good enough."
And Phil is right about having to "earn" the meeting - insofar as the dealer doesn't "owe" anything -- not even a hearing…
Chris,
You're in good company. One of America's greatest military tacticians, George S. Patton, Jr., is reputed to have said the same thing -- "We can always learn from each other." -- according to Porter B. Williamson in his book, PATTON'S PRINCIP…
Sally,
Not sure. We may have to wait for the Call for Entries in April to find out what the parameters are this year. We'll try to keep you posted.
Meanwhile, if you and your associates would like to hear some great radio advertising, you will enj…
1) Yes, I'm planning on entering perhaps several spots this year - mindful that the bar for judging locally-produced radio commercials is likely to be as high as it was last year. I still believe the RMA's are an asset to our industry.
2) I enjoy s…

Sara,
You might try contacting RSC members Dave Doetsch and Jenna Fox, both of whom work for Midwest Family in Springfield, IL (WMAY and others). I recall them having considerable success with a local attorney last year. Might be worth an email or…
In my experience, it depends on the individual.
If the person on the air has both the aptitude and attitude for a direct sales position...is willing to invest the time and effort to learn what is needed to succeed in this particular field...and dil…
A couple weeks ago I upgraded from a cell phone to a smartphone, the relatively new Samsung Omnia 2. I'd been looking seriously at the Droid, but after talking with a couple friends who have the O2, I went with it. I might otherwise have considered…
THANK YOU, You've just given us all the reason to be a member. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER. I would have to recommend 2 oldies but goodies that have re-programed the way I think in this economic time. "Who Moved My Cheese" & "Swim with the Sharks, without be…
Wow, Kimberly, that's impressive! Is there a website connected with the show? Any chance you'd be willing to share details, sales materials, etc. here - fill in the back story, etc.? Love to learn more about what you did and how you did it!
Having a good understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of competitive media is certainly an advantage for anyone selling or creating radio advertising. To aid our members in their research, we've compiled the following list of the major media an…
Nicely done, Mike. Just went to your website to poke around a bit. It's clean, informative, user-friendly. The name HH&F suggests you attract a wide variety of exhibitors - pretty much anyone interested in the exposure - yes? Thanks for sharing the…

Ford, the brand, has been associated with a few bright spots on the automotive landscape recently. Their nearly $1billion profit in Q3 last year was a pleasant surprise (remember, they did not take government bailout money), and at the Inter…
I once saw a similar movie in 1969 called Putney Swope. Seems to have slipped into obscurity, probably deservedly so. It was a dark comedy about a little revolution in an advertising agency -- think Shaft meets Crazy People.
Interesting responses s…
Hi Rod, Hi everyone,
In my country- Bulgaria, radio is very well developed industry. There are a few big radio groups, which possess nearly 90-94% of the radio adv money. There are 2 american companies, invested in Bulgaria- EMMIS invested only in radio, News Corp invested in TV and Radio.
Other big foreing players are SBS and Communicorp. There are 2 bulgarian radio companies as well.
Training opportunities here are not so big. Foreign investors usually use foreign training and consulting specialists.

Rod, Thanks for the welcome note. Funny you mention Timmothy Dineen. You are the second person in as little as six months to ask the same question. So the question begs to be asked. Where did you go to high school. Just for the record, all my ancestorial roots are Wisconsin based.
Thanks for the feedback. I apologize for the belated delay. For some reason I was not receiving messages. As for our P1 Selling Education Campus. The students will actually go through a semester of learning from our broadcast training campuses. Then after that semester we will certify the students as “P1 Selling Media Sales Professionals”. Along with the interactive learning, professors, such as Roger Dodson, previously with the RAB, coaches the students in the classroom. Specifically at the University of Nebraska the students will work with the local university radio station and conduct “mock campaigns”. I think the more internship programs and universities we get this program in, the better. We figure why not fill that gap between the classroom setting and real life of a broadcast professional. So far we are at Ole Miss, University of Nebraska, and the University of Central Missouri.
Hi Rod
Many thanks, it was our Head of Radio Steve Fountain that sent the e mail out to us all regarding the radio sales cafe :)
It is a very snowy UK again this morning, it has been snowing since 6am and has not stopped! I have to say it was lovely to see Dover Castle covered in snow yesterday, although I would be much happier if it went so that I could get to my customers easier!
All the best for 2010
Rod, Thank you for the warm welcome. I am on the network sales team, based in Sherman Oaks, specializing in business development. Here's to a robust 2010!!! Thanks again. Milt
