Les Patterson’s Monday Morning Boost: Give a little, Get a lot

  • Give a little, get a lot.

    What goes around comes around.

The Golden Rule – do unto others as you would have done unto you.

Used by many around the world, they essentially mean the same thing – when we give of ourselves we receive in return. Finding ways to give can be challenging, especially if we let ourselves feel we’re too busy. When we give of ourselves, even just a little bit, we create bountiful opportunities for our lives to richly blessed.

Here are a few simple thoughts on how we can give a little of ourselves.

    • Smile and say hello to someone you pass on the sidewalk.
    • Drive more courteous.
    • Be more patient with challenging person.
    • Call a grandparent.
    • Tell a co-worker how much you appreciate their friendship.
    • Share the beauty of evening sunset with someone else.
    • Hold the door open.
    • Allow the other person to go first.
    • Say thank you ten times today.
    • Tell someone you love them.
    • Offer an encouraging word.
    • Call your spouse at work just to say hello.
    • Give the gift of your smile to your kids over breakfast.
    • Slow down and breathe.
    • Take in your neighbor’s garbage can.
    • Cuddle with your child and read a story.
    • Give the gift of forgiveness.
    • Give the gift of love.
    • Smile

Giving unto other is not something we generally do simply to receive something in return. Most people enjoy giving for the joy of giving. The Law of Giving corresponds with the Law of Receiving. When we give, we receive. It’s Karma. Adam Grant, author of Give and Take, teaches, “The more I help out, the more successful I become. But I measure success in what it has done for the people around me. That is the real accolade.”

That is the real accolade. How can you give today?

Have a great Monday!  Thanks for letting me share.
