Craig Van Abel asks, "Has anyone hired digital only salespeople? If so, has it been beneficial?"
Our company has a full digital division at the company HQ in a different market and they have a couple of Digital Only sellers in their division. But for the radio stations, we have our radio sellers also sell digital because we have a relationship established with clients.
We do have a digital resource person from ou digital division who assists radio sales people, but she does not do sales.
On a side note, most of our digital clients have dropped or converted the money to radio in the past 4 years. Too much competition and not able to translate the clicks into real paying customers in tracking response. Sure we have better digital conversion rates using the digital metrics versus our competitors, but when it comes down to the bottom line, my advertising partners want proof in calls, foot traffic or sales that they can have at least anecdotal evidence that their money is getting results.
