    What's Brewing at the Café....

    Happy Friday, everyone!

Please join us in welcoming Geri Cummings of Gibraltar. I went online to see if her station (RockRadio Gibraltar), uses The Rock of Gibraltar as a slogan but didn’t see it there. In any case, we're delighted to welcome you to the RSC community, Geri.

FRIDAY POLL QUESTION – TEN YEARS IN THE MAKING. Today, Radio Sales Café celebrates 10 years of service to radio advertising sales professionals. Since May 9, 2009, our members have contributed thousands of posts, generated millions of page views, and shared a fabulous wealth of ideas, resources, and solutions to radio advertising sales problems. We believe that RSC’s archives today contain the most valuable concentration of practical radio sales knowledge anywhere!

In view of this milestone, we'd like to revisit the question we asked when we celebrated our first anniversary:

What aspects of Radio Sales Cafe do you find most useful?

What additional features would you like to see?

Please share your ideas here. Thank you!

FREE WEBINAR - GROW YOUR LEADERSHIP SKILLS. This Tuesday, May 14th, you're invited to take part in the next Local Broadcast Sales 2nd Tuesday Webinar, featuring Mark & Holly Levy. We all have the potential to be great leaders. We have to be an inspiration to followers, leading by example while maintaining a positive outlook about specific outcomes. This includes your advertiser’s success and reaching revenue expectations. In this webinar, Leadership Impact Rx: Maximum Strength I3 Skills That Everyone at Your Station Should MasterMark and Holly Levy (married for 35 years) will help you grow your leadership skills for driving revenue with practical examples and know-how. Click here for details and to register.

Earlier this week, the Radio Mercury Awards finalists were announced, over 130 of them! Congratulations to all the finalists, especially those in the Radio Station Produced category, which hits closer to home for most of us here. Listening to good radio commercials is a great way to find ideas and inspiration for our own clients. To listen to all the Mercury finalists click here.

Speaking of which…thanks to Kurt Kaniewski for sharing one of my favorite theater-of-the-mind spots from the Mercury archives, a wonderful spot for Hummer in which product benefits are woven effectively into the conversation between a protective dad and the young man who's just arrived to pick up dad’s daughter for a date. Try not to smile when you get to the end.

Have you produced a spot that’s worked well for a client? We’d love to hear it. Please share it with us! Just click here to get started.

Lana Butts would like to know if any member has any tips for recruiting a traffic manager. If you can help, please reply here.

Thank you for your participation at Radio Sales Café. We hope you have a great Friday and weekend!

    Cordially,

    Rod
