Promotions ideas for Powersports dealer

    A powersports dealer on my client list wants to do a fall "trade event" and offer cash for old/broken/etc ATVs, motorcycles, & watercraft. They're looking to have a "ride in" on a Saturday in late September, and this trade event will coincide. I've got some ideas I'm working on, but wondered what some of your dealers may have done and found successful? Thanks for your input!

    Hi Lindsay,

    For extra incentive/results...you might ask the dealership to give away a special prize in a drawing only for those who traded in their power vehicle such as a new helmet...maintenance kit...trailer...jacket...gas for a year...oil for a year. Anything that makes the person trading in feel like they just can't pass it up. Think of it as a value added purchase prize. They only need to give away one, but it needs to be something that would push people over the top from "thinking" to "doing".

    Why not build on the recently successful "Cash for Clunkers?" I am using the idea this fall with an Eye, Nose and Throat practice for eye glasses and hearing aids.

    Julie D. Your suggestion is just what we were thinking about, but with some of the political stuff going on with "Cash for Clunkers" we didn't want to confuse the listener, so we're doing everything possible to call it something different. Good luck on your promotion with the ENT.
