Does anyone have any great ideas on Golf Course promotions that generate revenue from multiple courses?
I'd be curious to hear myself. I have not worked with any golf course clients and neither has my station.. love to learn more since spring is just around the corner!
I would be interested in hearing from folks as I am trying to put together something for a course and a smaller driving range as well.
We run the "WKJC GOLF TOUR"! It starts around Memorial Day and Runs thru Labor Day. Each week we Spotlight a different Golf Course. During the spotlight week the Highlighted Golf Course gets five interviews which we air in the Morning Show and repeat in the Afternoon Show.. These interviews were pre-recorded. We limit sposorship to six golf courses running six weeks, then we re-run the programs again for six weeks. Total promotion is 12 weeks. We include commercials for the sponsor and promos as well as web site cross promotion highlighting our featured Golf Courses. All interviews are are available via podcast. During their highlighted week we also give away golf passes. It's a good promotion and a good money maker for the station!
Three things about golf courses. They are either selling quality, affordability, or are looking to trade. To often, I think radio jumps at the trade and is forever viewed as not worthy of cash.
We've done a golf course report where we combine 4 15 second ads to make a 60 and highlight the area courses. We mostly have their general information, phone number, website, etc, but we also change it up when they have tournaments or special events. Some of the courses here in ND are very small community courses so sharing a 60 allows them to get better frequency at a lower cost.
Hi Tom,
For the past couple of years, we've run a promotion called "Tee Time". On weekdays, we post a golf-related trivia question on our website. Nothing too hard and it's multiple choice. Visitors can submit their answer directly on the web page. All correct answers go into a draw for 2 green fees at one of the partner courses (which we change up every day). I believe the winner is announced on the air, during the drive show, but I could be wrong. Either way, it's certainly geared towards helping boost website traffic.
As for ads, each featured course received a :30 "course profile", which we'd pair up with second course to create a Tee Time minute (2 30's back-to-back) Not sure how much revenue it created, but we never pay for golf around here.
