We, too, work with many people that we know on a personal basis. We are pretty lenient on our collections, but we also don't have a lot of problems. If we fear someone won't pay, we collect up front with the first ad schedule. They get notices at 60, 90, and 120 days out and after that they go to collections. Our account managers make all of the collection calls if the clients are behind on paying. We do get paid on collections. We lose our commission after 120 days if they haven't paid, but once they do pay, we do receive part of our commission. After all...we did do the work and we should get compensated because we do all that we can sometimes to get people to pay - but we will take them off the air if they are 120 days out also (usually).
