Fast Food Chains and HS Sports

Looking for a few ideas here.  We are a small market station that carries local high school sports (football, basketball, softball, baseball) for 4 different schools in our area.  There are several fast food chains in our area that haven't done alot of advertising with us in the past, national chains (Sonic, McDonalds, Popeyes, etc). We were able to add one of the chains to our currently running summer promotion, and while they didn't say this I believe the fact that we offered them to be able to give away prizes during the promotion convinced them to join our summer campaign.

In an effort to keep them on as an advertiser for the future for our sports season I was hoping to get some ideas on incorporating some sort of giveaway or incentive that would send listeners to the chain in some way. Our first sport is football so that would be the most beneficial right now but any sport recommendation would be welcome.

How about "Sticker Patrol"?   It works like this:

Get some bumper stickers printed and give a stack to each of your chosen advertising sponsors

Tell people about the sticker patrol and where they can get one of the stickers (driving footfall to your advertisers)

During the day keep an eye open for cars with your sticker and make a note of their license plate

During breakfast show announce the lucky license plate for the owner to phone-in and get their prize.

Obviously it needs lots of cross promotion all day everyday to raise awareness.

A key advantage is that after the campaign the stickers remain, raising awareness of your station (few people remove them once they are applied).

It's not my idea - but one that has been done many times on stations in UK and Ireland!

How about naming a player of the game and having the fast food place as the sponsor.  Then on Monday morning, ask for caller number whatever to name the player of the game for a prize pack from the sponsor. If possible, post the player of the game on your social media and web page to give listeners a better chance to win.

Have the advertiser sponsor Half-Time and call it "________'s Half-Time Habit" The sponsor delivers samples to the booth and the announcers talk about it during the half-time show.  The announcers then talk about the sponsors special price on the sample that is available for 1 to 2 hours after the game.= driving business to them right away.

What about a 5th Quarter type show at their location. Make it THE palce to go after the game special deals.

The 5th Quarter would be a Scoreboard Highlights Show from all the games in the area. Have pre-recorded interviews with coaches, players, etc., in Saturday's college games or Sunday's NFL.
