    Radio Sales Cafe Members:

This Week's Sales TipWhen you tackle a big station project, it's always a good idea to give yourself several months of planning time. This week's idea is so good I want to make sure you leave yourself four months to prepare ... Are you ready? Read on ...

This Memorial Day Weekend you should launch the First Annual Radio Station Cycle Tour Of Your Hometown. A massive bicycle tour where your listeners cycle for a great cause like the American Cancer Society, The United Way or even better ... Multiple Sclerosis to tie in with the Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon.

The entrance fees get donated to MS and you cash in with a major sponsor like Trek, Giant, or Diamondback Bicycles. Your local Medical Center would jump on this opportunity and so would the local  Sports Drink distributor. Banks, Credit Unions and Mortgage Companies love to sponsor high profile events and don't overlook WalMart and Target (two retailers that sell tons of bicycles.)

This idea is too good to pass up ... get a jump start on it right now and you'll have a major money making station event on the books for May.

I remember back in 1975, KRMG in Tulsa used to run their Raft Race every summer.

Our station, KXXO 1300 decided to team up with Utica Square shops and did a Great

American Bike Race. Had a great time, lots of sponsors, lots of entrants. But you're right

it takes a lot of planning to pull it off.
