    Radio Sales Cafe Members,

This Week's Sales Tip: There was great response to last week's sales tip on This Week In Music History and many requests for a similar follow up. You'll like this idea:

When I'm on the road, it's fun to hear about celebrities that grew up where I'm visiting. It's an interesting topic and would make for another great advertising campaign.

My home state of New Jersey is best know for Bruce Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi but the list of famous New Jersey residents is endless. Comedian Jerry Lewis, Frank Sinatra, Bud Abbott & Lou Costello, basketball player Dennis Rodman, John Travolta, General Norman Schwarzkopf, Franki Valli, TV Icon Martha Stweart, Danny DeVito, Steely Dan's Donald Fagen, and NY Yankee's Derek Jeter were all born and raised in NJ.

Do a little research and come up with 13, 26 or even 52 celebrities from your home state and write a series of :30 scripts featuring a different celebrity each week. Include what town they born in and where they were educated. Perhaps a line or two where they got their first big break and finish up with their greatest accomplishments. Top off the creative with a :15 open and :15 close from a local advertiser with something like this ... "Washington State Chevrolet is Hometown Proud. And this week we're of proud of Jimi Hendrix. Born in Seattle, Washington in 1942, Jim Hendrix was the greatest guitarist in Rock & Roll history ...

These spots are fun and very interesting. You should have no trouble selling a 52 week schedule with this great campaign idea.
