The Home Depot is consistently one of the biggest advertisers on Radio buying upwards of 40,000 radio commercials in a single week! The Home Depot is not the biggest TV advertiser. They are not even in the top 10 TV advertisers. Dominating Radio advertising for the first quarter of this year helped Home Depot increase sales by over 7.1%, far better than rival Lowe's.

Lowe's, the No.2 U.S. home improvement chain by sales, reported lower-than-expected quarterly earnings on Wednesday (5/20/14). They blamed the harsh winter weather for their performance. Sales grew 5.2%.

Lowe's in not in either list, the top 10 Radio advertisers of the top 10 TV advertisers. The top TV advertiser in recent weeks is Warner Brothers, spending approximately $31 million in a single week for about 4,036 television commercials across 105 broadcast and cable networks.

During that same week, Home Depot ran 45,614 Radio commercials for a fraction of the cost of Warner Brother's TV schedule clearly demonstrating the massive advantage in both reach and frequency Home Depot enjoys when they make Radio advertising their primary advertising tool.

It was the same bad winter weather for both Home Depot and Lowe's but Home Depot was the most active Radio advertiser and Lowe's wasn't. Sure, there are other factors for the success at Home Depot but it is their consistent presence on Radio that helps people know what is going on at Home Depot and how they can help.

Radio, just AM and FM Radio, not satellite or Internet Radio, is growing audience. Over 244 million Americans listen to either an AM or an FM Radio every week. The average person spends 2 hours and 42 minutes each day listening to their favorite Radio stations.

The massive reach and the affordability of Radio advertising is why Home Depot dominates the medium with their message. If you want to out grow your competitors, pick up the phone and call the sales department at your local Radio station and find out just how affordable and easy it can be to get started.
