Hello,
I'm currently working on a promotion for my jewelry client. We are ordering a large cake (12' long - sponsored) and will be inserting a diamond ring into it along with secondary prizing from co-sponsors.
The jewelry store will receive a huge ad package for his Spring Bling Campaign.
Has anyone done this type of promotion before and do you have any innovative ideas to make it even bigger?
Hi,
This is a fun idea. Definitely look to that Baker as a partner! Are you going to arrange it so the cake is at a party? Maybe a mock wedding reception? Could you have your talent there in a wedding dress? Especially funny if you have guys hosting your morning show!!
So how will you let people get pieces of cake? Cannot sell them off if a prize is at stake. Will you have staff cut standard size pieces? It has to be fair or you will never hear the end of it. I like creating a situation where people can see how much is left and tension as you get closer to the end.
Have a photographer set up a background and encourage people to post pics at a specific hashtag. Then those who post qualify to win that photog for their wedding or event or family portrait...whatever that client will work with you on.
Great promotional ideas, Lisa! When a radio rep can coordinate a cooperative promotion involving several compatible businesses, everyone benefits from the synergy. If the jeweler is giving away pieces of cake to anyone who shows up (without requiring them to buy anything), you've eliminated the "consideration" factor from the equation; you can still have "prize" and "chance" without running afoul of lottery laws. Having a photographer and the bakery joining you is a great idea. Why not add a florist. A bridal shop. A formal apparel store. Event venues (receptions). Caterers. Travel agents (honeymoons). Your jeweler could actually host a mini bridal show in his store, if he has the room for it. Lots of possibilities here.
