Is anyone else having the end of summer slump and sales drought? I have a few clients that will no longer be on because of the end of the season... and frankly, I am running out of motivation the past few weeks. Plus I run my own business after work, so the burn out is very real. Does anyone have any tips or tricks for getting out of the burn out? Is there anything that works for you this time of year? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
Melissa, thank you for posting this! With all that you have on your plate combined with some clients dropping off, I can definitely understand the burnout. I'll be including your post in this week's newsletter, and I'm sure you will get some valuable feedback from our members . . . I'm guessing there are several who have been or are in your shoes.
We've run a couple of poll questions on this topic in the past, What's Your Strategy for Breaking out of a Sales Slump? and How Do You Stay Motivated? that might have some suggestions that you'd find helpful. There is also this discussion thread: How to Avoid the Summer Doldrums in Radio Sales and this post: 8 Ways to Fight a Sales Slump.
Personally, if I find myself spinning my wheels, I take a look at my client list to see if there are any easy sales, "low-hanging fruit," if you will, that I can go after. There's nothing like a sale or two to improve one's outlook. Sometimes changing approach works for me, too; i.e., sending an email where I might otherwise make a phone call or vice versa, using a testimonial to share another client's success with a new client, that sort of thing. Best wishes to you, and please keep us posted!
