R-22. That's all you have to say to an AC heating dealer right now:
Details: The US government has outlawed R-22 as a pressurization agent in AC units. They are going to R-410. This DOES NOT MEAN they cannot sell R-22 units, but no more are being made as manufactures cannot use R-22 any more (some scientists think leaking R-22 can harm the ozone). The new units with R-410 are much more expensive to buy and a LOT more expensive to run as they must nearly double the pressure of the refrigerant at 100 degrees OAT.
Factories are DUMPING R-22 units and people can save money. They are perfectly legal and most come with full warranties, usually around 10 years. The factoreis will continue to make parts. Many of the manufacturers are offering 6 months same as cash OAC.
