Friday Poll: Does Your Station Have a Mobile App?

A March 19 Inside Radio article stated, "Over the air listening may continue to define the bread and butter of traditional radio, but mobile apps continue to beef up what broadcasters offer their audiences. While live streaming, on-demand content, social media and contesting have now become status quo in the app arena, evolution is a constant, as radio groups continue to extend their brands far beyond the airwaves."

In another article, Inside Radio noted, "Traditional AM/FM radio may remain dominant for in-car listening, while the explosion of smart speakers is also bringing AM/FM back into the home. But there is nothing as essential as the presence of station mobile apps in the medium’s quest to be—as has so often been said—'wherever and whenever' listeners are."

So for this week's poll question, we'd like to know:

Does your station have a mobile app? And if so, would you please share a screenshot?

Looking forward to seeing your replies!

When we revamped our website early last year we couldn't find a 'simple' solution for a mobile app and while I never gave up on the idea it also seemed like there were more pressing issues to deal with so it took a backseat. I am following this with great interest and hoping some of our RSC members will share their wisdom on how to create an app simply and affordably.

In that same vein, I am asking for advice on how to get our entire staff (full and part-time) on board with promoting the radio station website. Lots of time and money has been invested and still more than 2/3 of our staff couldn't care less about our station website, promoting it, sharing it, or even bothering to accept the invitation to 'like' our associated social media page. We're in a small market and while it sounds like it would make sense trying to utilize every method available to promote the radio station (i.e. website, social media) our own staff has a tremendous lack of interest so I am at a loss and wonder if it's worth sending any more time or money developing an app. What am I missing?

As you can see streaming the station is available from multiple sources.

Thank you for the information, Scott. I was confused and thought the poll was about developing an app for streaming which I didn't do. We already have our website with streaming, news, weather, road & travel, school directory, church directory, etc... and it's optimized for mobile. I did not create and register an app for the Google Play/Android Market or for Apple's trademarked App Store.
