Has anyone signed up with one of the radio texting services? We've been in discussion with one called Radio Texter. It's a way to build a database of the cell numbers of lots of texters and a way to put them in touch with our clients. You can do contests over the air and ask them to text number xxxxxx and give their responses. We can send a blast of school closings, weather alerts, football scores and updates, amber alerts, etc. I'd like to know if anyone is using one of these services and if they've figured out ways to make $$ with them.
We haven't started it as yet, but will be shortly and I will gladly share any ideas that we find profitable.

Attached is an article from the current Radio Ink magazine. It's an infomercial from competitive text vendor Hip Cricket, but their radio sales points apply equally to all texting services. Our RadioTexter.com service is very similar to theirs except we cost a fraction of their price. Also, there are some daily ezines that come free by email from trade associations. One such that I like is www.mobilemarketer.com. You can sign up to get their daily email free at their website. One of their testimonials today is from a Florida car/truck dealer that used three radio stations to help sales of three of their product lines. Dave Scott CEO RadioTexter.com

This is the easiest sale ever. Sell a schedule, use the last 10 seconds of their spots to invite people to text in to win a prize from/with your client. Send response to texter telling them that they have successfully entered to win. Ask in the text if they want to recieve more info, future promotional offers, sales or contest info from your client. Most will say yes. Rema rket as desired.... build data base with each contest. Ad to blast list for future remarketing. Charge accordingly. New text blast and ad campaign monthly, no more. It really works. Get client to provide a great prize to insure response. If you wouldn't text in to win it yourself, your listeners won't either. Strong offer means everything.
