I need to gather some demographic and other data to use in an upcoming presentation to an auto repair shop.  The RAB isn't an option until a couple of months from now.  Are there any other places online where I can get that kind of information?

Don emailed me some additional details about what he's looking for:

"What I need is a little more background information on auto repair shops, such as...

Age demographics for auto repair customers

Average income for auto repair customers

Ethnic demographics ([Don's client] said he'd like to draw in more Hispanic customers)

Sales trends (which months sales are great, which aren't, etc.)

Any other information on news and trends in the auto repair industry, specifically for independent shops like my prospect's.

More info: The prospect is more interested in building images than bringing in more customers."

If you can help Don out, please add your reply below - thanks!

Hi Don: Hope I'm not too late for your presentation. I love, love Google. I put in Auto repair shop demographics and what came up are a couple of good options for info: underhoodservice.com and autoinc.org/howsbiz. Hope these help. Remember...Google, Google, Google!! Good Luck

Thanks for your help, folks. Yesterday I signed the prospect to a six-month contract, and the advice you all gave helped me put together a good presentation. Thanks again!

If your station is not a memeber, you should become a member on your own. RAB is a valuable asset. Their instant backgrounds can't be beat. They have personal memberships. Get one. https://www.rab.com:442/personalMember/begin.cfm I think its a couple of hundred bucks a year. Well worth it.
