I have been talking to a gentleman that just started a MMA Cage Fighting school and event center.... He is already advertising with my compitition but i have several "up's" on them.. My station is rock vs. country... My rates are lower, and myself and station included are very "involved" with our clients vs. giving someone there ads and never talking to them again....so my delima is i want to create a marketing plan for this business that is out of the box and completely out of this world... Any ideas that are pertaining to how my radio stations can be "involved" please help... Thank You...

Our Rock Station Z102 http://www.wphz.com has had major success with promoting MMA in our area! I would help educate the listener about MMA. Many people may see it as a barbaric sport, but it can be a sweet science, much like boxing was in its hey day. Set up a live broadcast with the school, maybe have some jocks participate in some lessons.

I have more questions than answers. What is his current marketing plan? What does the person who attends an MMA Cage fight look like? (Age, gender, income, etc.) Are his events only in Riverton or does he put on events across Wyoming or does he cover an even larger area. How many people does he need to draw to make a profit. What are his long term goals? Have you done a Client Needs Analysis with this client? Does he have the number of students he would like to have in the school? There are many more questions to ask, and until you know the answers to all these questions, I am not sure how you would put any kind of marketing plan together. As far as involvement, get your morning guy to be the ring anouncer. Get interviews for your sports shows. Do live remotes talking to the audience and the fighters before the fight. Cover the weigh-ins on your sports news. Have one or more of the fighters sit on the morning show.
