Holly, one of our Facebook fans from "down under" (Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia, to be precise), Pierre Camelin, had this to suggest: How about an old rocking chair squeaking away with character voice over as the the chair - an old man feeling sorry for himself because he's not the 'favourite' chair anymore. ....'doesn't want to sit on me anymore-(they) prefer to park their 'fanny' on....." Script going into store's sale, bargains, quality name brands etc etc......just a thought

The best furniture promotion I ever heard was for "The Ugliest Chair" contest for Father's Day. Listeners brought in photos of their dad's or husband's ratty old recliners, and they were posted on a bulletin board in the furniture store. Listeners had to visit the store to vote for the ugliest chair. The winner of the ugliest chair contest received a brand new Lane recliner. The store donated the recliner, and of course, they ran an advertising campaign for the event. Those who did not win the contest usually received a new chair anyways from their families, puchased of course, from the store who sponsored the event.

RAB normally has good copy concepts, by category, on their website to get the juices flowing.

Here's the questions you must get answers for to write good copy. Why would I buy from you vs. your competitor? Why would I NOT buy from you vs. your competitor? Ask the client "so what" after every answer until you get to something that makes a difference in the buying decision (i.e., been in business ____ years, the best customer service, etc. are not difference makers). Use an existing tag line or come up with one for the business and use it in every ad. Strongly encourage the client to use the same tag line and message in all forms of media.

Holly, I just came across this thread that was started last September by another RSC member looking for ad ideas for a furniture store: http://www.radiosalescafe.com/forum/topics/furniture-store Perhaps you'd find something helpful there!
