    Hi Bob,

As a hairdresser's daughter and the person who does the advertising for my mom's salon, I think I have a unique perspective on the beauty biz! If this really is a trendy salon...you need to find out who they are targeting. If they want to target mainly women 18-40 then by all means you can go all out and talk about "wanting the latest Lady Gaga look" or the "Rhianna Haircut" and use an upbeat popular music bed. Some trendy salons are only trendy because they just got out of school and have learned the latest techniques and therefore they call themselves trendy when they are really a family salon. Ask some questions and find out what they really mean by "trendy" and go from there.

I did a very successful campaign for my mom's salon using the song from Roxette "You've Got the Look" that focused on getting the latest trendy looks from a family friendly salon. It was a huge hit! We did another ad using the line from Steel Magnolia's where Dolly says "There is no such thing as natural beauty". That ad focused on foiling and coloring and that "only your hairdresser will know for sure if it came from a bottle and not from your mother!"

I hope those ideas help a bit. Good luck!
