Julie: We have several local high schools we work with. During football we have the
W A K O KICK FOR CASH..............During basketball we have the W A K O SHOOT FOR
CASH.
You can figure out what we do or adopt your own thoughts.... We just provide the cash... $25.00
per home game for one winner , if there is one...
In football one person gets to attempt a extra point kick... they make it , I give them a check..
They don't... too bad...
In basketball, they shoot from the top of the key, they make it, I write a check, they don't,
sorry..
Sports clubs sell the tickets and keep all the money... I pay the $25 so everyone wins
especially WAKO AM FM.
Want to know more, give me a holler..

I've seen that 50/50 draws can work really well depending on the amount of fans that come out to the home games. I'm a youth pastor and have had to struggle with fundrasing many times. A few of the things I have done that have worked are Krispy Kreme if you have one near by to get the supply can work well. Have made $1000 off of that. Car washes can ususally get a few hundred. BBQ's for the community. One that I always have ongoing is a loose change jug, we call it Doug the Jug. Whenever anyone is around we ask them to feed Doug. Now we have $1 and $2 coins here in Canada so we will raise funds a little faster, but we don't get many of them. We have done quite well with Doug over the years.
That's about all I have right now. Hope I was able to help a little.

Julie,
Cameron Taylor, a fan on the
RSC Facebook page, wondered if the team(s) are registered as NPO's?

Hi Rod,
One of the teams needs to raise $20,000.00 per year in order to keep from being eliminated. 2 of the other teams need to raise $10,000.00 each. Very difficult to do in an island community with 13,000 people.

Hi Sam,
Interesting idea except it isn't allowed here. No students are allowed to be involved in any fundraiser that could jeopardize their health. Also, this is a very small town (13,000 people) and we don't have a lot of entertainers and we don't have an actual stadium...just a field with no grandstands.
thanks!

Rebecca,
Yes, all of the teams are registered as Non Profit Organizations. Unfortunately, there are lots of NPO's here and they all need support.
Thank you!

Hi Shawn,
We have tried several of the things that you suggested...thanks! One of the team's needs to raise about $20,000 and they have managed to only raise $6,000. I wish we had a Krispy Kreme but we live on an island with only 13,000 hardy souls! We use 50/50 raffles at all the basketball games and that only nets the team about $400.00 per game. I guess I was hoping to figure out something were they could make a lot of money with 1 promotion or event instead of nickeling and diming their way to $20,000.
Thanks for all the ideas. I really appreciate it.
Julie
