We giveaway cups of coffee from a local coffee hut and lunch from a local hawaiian restaurant. We have also started doing a freebie on our facebook each morning. Which could be movie tickets from the local cinema, a coffee mug or whatever we might find around the station. We get really good response from all of these.

    Hi Tammy,

My station often uses Oriental Trading as a source for inexpensive giveaway items...many of which can be personalized with the stations logo. Recent giveaways that were very popular were mini radios with headphones and CD holders in the shape of sports balls...baseball, soccer and basketball. This summer we gave away an ice cream cone a day for National Ice Cream month (July) which a local ice cream shop provided for us. Tickets to events...movies, play and concerts are always popular and so are gift cards...Walmart, Radio Shack, Big Box retailers. We also give away 2 oz bags of coffee from a local roastery and gift certificates to a coffee hut every morning. It is very popular. One year we gave away hats and pom poms in our high school's colors for the start of the basketball season. Be creative and don't be afraid to ask for giveaway items. Most people are pretty open to it. Hope that helps!

Your best source is your local clients. We have several resturaunts that we do giveaways with. Taco Johns, Arbys, Hardees, Perkins. Its amazing how listeners will go crazy for a $4.00 breakfast.. but they do. Often times we will use an on air giveaway as an add on value to a contract. Although they are giving product away.. they get a ton of branding name mentions weekly. Our DJ's create a contest and the business is branded with that contest. Anytime the DJ talks about the contest, the client is mentioned. Its a win win win situation... the station wins, the client wins and the listener wins!

Yes accually we do the resteraunt thing also... We have it where if you here the outlaw song of the day and be the 5th caller you get free breakfast at a resteraunt. We just had a meeting the other day and everyone mentioned maybe giving something else other then food and cds away.. we just gave bronco tickets away if you wrote a email saying why you are the biggest Broncos fan. So we do give things away, we are just trying to change it a little but... thank you guys so much your ideas are amazing.

My two cents: Be careful with facebook contests. Each one needs to be approved by facebook (if you're using the social networking site to promote and facilitate it). We promote on air contests on facebook saying something to the effect that they need to listen to win.
