    Hello fellow sales folks!

I am looking for ideas on a contest that would benefit the station, the client, and the listeners.

For the last couple of Summers we have had a BBQ contest, where clients would buy a certain amount of advertising, and in turn, we would drop off ballot boxes and mention them regularly on the air.

Listeners would be encouraged to visit participating businesses and fill out a ballot.

We would regularly draw ballots, and hold weekly BBQ's at the winner's houses (the on-air staff would cook and clean & leave them with a brand new BBQ)!!

This was very successful, but has become quite stagnant, and doesn't have the appeal it used to have.

Looking for ideas on a NEW exciting campain to replace this

    Any ideas?

    THANKS!

Radio Bingo is really fun! You sell 24 sponsors (the center square is your station). The package includes a bulk of ads per month. We ran the promo 3 months in a row. Each square on the game card has a clients logo and a Date______ Time____. Listeners have to write down the Date and Time that they HEAR the clients commercial (compare to your commercial logs). Thats how they "get" that clients square.Once they BINGO in any direction, they mail in thier card. Each Month we drew from the correct enteries for prizes from the sponsors.. Then at the end of the three months, we took ALL the cards from all 3 months and drew for 1 grand prize.. something big.. like a trip or large amount of cash. It was fun for the listeners and VERY effective for the clients because we could prove that people were hearing thier ad. Make game cards available ONLY at the clients businesses--to create foot traffic as well. It's successful for the radio station because listeners are faithfully listening... it also guarantees a 3 month contract from 24 businesses for the station!

I still have all the documents we used with the rules and the card, etc. If you want me to send it to you, just email me [email protected] and I will send it over!

Hi Jennifer. I have about 20 50 second pro small business messages. They allow for a 10 second billboard then the commercials followed by the vignette. They are good for the station, client and listeners. The free if you want them. my email is [email protected]

Hi Jennifer, Have you ever heard our Time Capsule feature? It’s a daily, 90-second “Guess-the-month-and-year” quiz that’s been aired by hundreds of U.S. stations for about three decades now. If not, when you get a chance, click over to www.tcapsule.com/watd -- an example of the free webpage we can create for you -- and turn up your speakers (better yet, slap on some headphones for the stereo effects). That webpage – imagine it customized with your contact info on it -- will launch anyone on your account list into a lively, interactive video presentation of the Time Capsule... and how it'll help them generate more business. Which I hope will generate more business for YOU. Our presentation is still in the “beta” stage. When it’s ready in another couple of weeks, we’ll invite our Radio Sales Café brethren to tear it to shreds… and help us make it more effective for them! But I read your CONTEST IDEAS NEEDED question and didn’t want to wait that long to respond. In any case, I’d sure welcome your feedback. You can email me at [email protected]. And perhaps we can spare your airstaff from scrubbing down BBQ grills next summer. Thanks, Richard Teimer
