Radio Recruitment is alive and well...

    Good morning all:

Radio recruitment is alive and well.  I know , I know...a lot of radio owners, manager and sellers probably think that "my unemployment rate is too high" or that "no one is hiring".  I have to say that is incorrect.

As I continue my 20+ year journey around the country mentoring radio managers, salespeople and companies across the globe, I have asked hundreds if not thousands of recruiters what the difference is between a 4% unemployment rate and an 8% unemployment rate.  The answer I hear more than anything else is, "at 8%, I just see MORE non-qualified people than ever".

Companies and organizations across the world struggle to find great people.  Why?  Because most "great" people are employed.  Not to say that all unemployed people are bad and all employed people are good.  Far from it.  There are many great people who will soon find work...and there are literally thousands of people who have jobs who should be unemployed...just look around.  You probably have some people in your own company that probably shouldn't be there!

Don't forget about this amazing category...it's huge and it doesn't go away when times get tough.  It actually only goes away when you stop asking about it.

The three toughest positions to fill according toCareerbuilder are:

    1) salespeople

    2) teachers

    3) automotive technicians

Keep fighting the good fight and you will win!
