I have a new syndicated radio feature airing across the country. Now I need advertisers. I have plenty of broadcast experience, but ZERO sales experience. I have found places and people that can teach local radio sales but nothing on the national/network level. Do you know where I can go to find syndicated/network radio sales training. A book, a seminar or anything would be helpful. Thank you.
Darian,
Two thoughts, based solely on projecting from a local sales standpoint:
1) Talk to the radio rep firms (Regional Reps, Tacher, etc.) about pitching your show(s) or network of stations to the agency buyers they call on;
2) Talk to agencies directly. (A subscription to Advertising Age or AdWeek/BrandWeek magazines would probably be helpful, in terms of identifying prospects and getting the names of the appropriate media planners/buyers/AE's. Another source: the directory of members of the AAAA, American Association of Advertising Agencies.)
Good luck!
Thank you very much. That is very helpful! I will start today.
The first thing you do in not incest marketing-
Avoid it at all costs, its a term used by Dan Kennedy... It means looking at what everyone else is doing and then copy it...
Take the other guys advice and then...
If you want to be different than the others and then do the opposite...four things i would do
1. Advertise in industry magazines
2. Do an introduction offer, do a newsletter, phone 20 potential clients a day.
3. Do a sequence letter program
4. Create a referral program
5. Get a mentor- info straight out of Dan Kennedy magnetic marketing program.
6. Create a foundation advertiser program...
Finally create free content for your clients, offer to do FREE voice overs, offer to do FREE content for them...
Hope this helps
All the best
Mike
And best of luck...
Mike
Thank you, sir.
