Hello I am new to radio sale's and this is a new radio station. We have a couple of companies advertising on our radio. This radio station is family owned, and looking to get new advertiser's. I started Jan 7th 2013 and I sold 2 contracts so far, but looking for idea's for more. I am looking for big businesses to advertise on our radio stations. I have local businesses advertising, but trying to get bigger client's. My manager has gotten some big clients, but now I would like to. Looking for idea's on how to get new customer's. I am doing a promotion for February for all the mom & pop shop's. Its going good just looking for long term clients.

Make sure you focus on the goals of each business and how your radio station will help them get there.
Be prepared to explain the benefits of radio vs newspaper and any other media.
Be prepared with a good answer when someone says "we believe in word of mouth."
Explain clearly that the ad does not have to reach the end user. It only has to reach the end users "radio referral network" or circle of influence.
Always try for 52 or 26 weeks. Anything less increases the chance the business will not renew.
