After watching a few of Chris Rolando's YouTube videos, I have seen these two items referenced a few times. He also says not to "sell your self".
Does anyone have an example of either two of these items?
He also mentioned something about making your own business cards with your name larger. Examples of that would be great also.
For an elevator speech, I always advise people to imagine themselves at a small airport for private planes only. The marketing director for a major retail chain is about to board the plane after the big announcement of his company coming to town. He's agreed to talk with you in the time it takes him to exit the car and board his plane (about 30-seconds). What are you going to tell him in that length of time to get a real meeting when he returns to town.
I am still watching and learning. I think I have it broke down to three sections, 1) intro, 2) elevator speech, 3) executive summary. If all on it's own, my elevator speech part is way less than 30 seconds and is pointless without the intro, which with interaction will be more than 30 seconds. I need to watch it again, but maybe the elevator speech does include the intro.
I want to learn and memorize key phrases that I can use interchangeably, so when I start the sentence, the rest just rolls out. I am sure my new employer will have all sorts of materials.
I also made my own 30 second radio spot. I have a phone number on it, but I am not sure if the number really is that important as I doubt people will be able to remember it. I think just saying my name an extra time would be better than the number.
I am excited about Monday!
