Has anyone had success with sending a prospect a customized letter in the mail to make a brief introduction before you reach out by phone or in person as a means of getting your foot in the door (obtaining an appointment)? If so, what sorts of content do you be sure to include?
I think that is probably one of the most effective ways to get your foot in the door is to send a hand written letter.
I got a thank you card from a gentleman that I bought dinner for at the RAB event in Indianapolis and it was super classy. I will never forget it. From now on before I cold call I will first send a hand written note. Lesson learned!
If you're someone who makes 30 calls a day... that's a lot of letters!
Hey Alex,
Just wondering what you ever came up with and since it's been nearly a year... your successes?
Thanks
Randy
Randy,
Not really. I've found that having quantity just as much as quality in your daily prospecting efforts is key. If you're going to reach out to 15-20 businesses, that's a heck of a lot of seed letters. And you shouldn't write a seed letter that isn't customized to the business you're sending it to. Won't stick out. Templates don't work.
Also don't think people open up mail from folks they don't know anymore... I sure don't.
