FREE coverage maps

How to get FREE and and really neat coverage maps for your stations or your competitors:

Federal Communications Commission | The United States of America (fcc.gov)
    Search
    Now put in your station
Click:  Service Contour on Google map (60 dBu)

Now a map will come up.  BUT...
In the Search Box will be a link.
Go to where it says contour=54 and change it to contour=60 or contour=70 or whatever you want.

For print outs I suggest CaptureWizPro

No, there  have been some FCC cases in which the commission frowned on those using anything beyond the primary contour.  Check your FCC attorney before doing this.

I just noticed,  these maps from Google  have a copyright at the bottom.  Once I bought a radio station and inherited a coverage map.  Sometime later the owner of the  copyright contacted me to complain of the unauthorized use of  his work. The map did not show a copyright in the version I had obtained but that is not significant. I withdrew the map.

We'd suggest caution using this kind of contour map - they only give a rough approximation of coveage extent and can easily be misinterpreted.   Much better wold be a coverage map using an accurate coverage prediction tool.  These are available from reputable broadcast consultants such as our own service: Radio Coverage Maps dot com
