Bloomington, Indiana is an unrated market, even tho' it's home to Indiana University with 42,000+ students on campus, and a resident population of 65,000+ Being unrated has its advantages, but one of the things we did that has helped us with agencies is simply to graph the demographics of our Facebook page friends. I think we had about 1400 friends, and when we made a graph it showed the age breakout-almost a perfect 25-54 curve, utilizing real numbers. If you have friends on your Facebook page, this is easy to do. Our station plays Today's Christian Music, so using this tool has given us additional credibility.

I'm in a small unrated market that happens to be near a larger rated market and we're constantly lumped in with them. Bad news is we got no ratings. Good news is our rates are so much less that I made the case that they could buy a bunch at my cheaper rates and bring the entire market in way below their average rate estimate.

We bring in Audiscan every other year. It's a big sample (2,000 cars) so it provides legitimacy. We also use testimonials from prominent clients and from other agencies.
