Nursing Home statistics relating to radio!

    Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!  Im looking for a good source of statistics, as I am working on a 52 week proposal for a local Nursing Home.  Any ideas on sources would be greatly appreciated!

    Nursing homes offer round-the-clock care if someone is too sick to live on their own, or if they need to recover after having an illness or operation. Some people stay for a short time in a nursing home and then go home. Other people may be sicker and need more care for longer periods. Nursing homes are licensed by the state to provide nursing care, personal care and medical services. They also offer different kinds of therapies to help a person recover after an illness or surgery. They provide meals, and do laundry and housekeeping. Finally, nursing homes offer different kinds of activities like art classes and religious services to help residents socialize and make it a place they can call home.

    Keep in mind that the target audience for nursing homes and assisted living is not really seniors.  It's 45-60 year olds - mostly female - who are looking for the right care for a parent.

    The RAB provides some great selling tools - research, Articles on Demand wherein they locate relevant info for you on specific topics, finished production, script samples, industry and comparative media data, sales training.  The membership is well worth the fee. You should check on it or ask your manager.

    Doug,

    One thing all nursing facilities are hot on right now is short term rehab..that time between hospital after a stroke, heart attack, operation, etc..before they're ready to go home. That's a language you'll need to learn. The next technique is to sit down with staff or past residents. Bring the tape/digital recorder..let them talk about the facility, the care, the staff, their experience..edit the best stuff and write some continuity. I've had good luck with this approach and my clients love them. Remember the real target demo some others have mentioned...and remember that each facility has a person dedicated to "recruiting" patients..it's a very competitive business...and...they need to keep all their beds filled. If you like, I can send you a few examples I've used here in Keene.
